What is involved in the RYM Church Internship Program outside of the intern's ministry experience at the local church?

CIP Study Program
Rather than something in-addition to full time ministry, the Study Program is PART of your weekly schedule and responsibilities. Each intern is expected to dedicate roughly 10hrs per week to personal study and reflection. The Study Program includes attendance at Youth Leader Training (see below), but is also bolstered by a curated list of books, videos, articles, etc. which are assigned each month during the school year.
If the Intern is attending seminary, the seminary learning could take the place of a portion of the 10hr requirement. In addition, the local church mentor may also prescribe some reading and study material as well.

CIP Retreats
The purpose of these retreats (one at the beginning of the ministry year in late August and one at the end in late May) is to build relationships with the other interns and the Director of Training and to be further oriented to the Church Internship Program. Someone attending these retreats can expect to have a LOT of fun and begin the deepening of accountable friendships which will be cultivated throughout the internship program.

CIP Meetings
Twice monthly (Sep-May)
Meeting #1 - General sharing time among the interns - ministry struggles and celebrations; provide prayer and feedback into one another's ministries; idea-generation and sharing.
Meeting #2 - Group discussion on the study program reading material for that month

One-on-One Coaching
Monthly Call with Director of Training via Zoom (Sep-May)
For the Intern - This monthly meeting enhances and expands the mentoring and support each intern receives during their two years in the program. It should be seen as a space for an intern to share struggles, ask hard questions, discuss potential difficulties, etc.
For the Church - The Local Church Mentor (the intern's "boss") will meet every other month over Zoom with the Director of Training to discuss the intern's ministry efforts at the church.

YLT Nashville Attendance
Church interns will attend YLT Nashville, an annual gathering of youth leaders and volunteers from across the country. The purpose of YLT Nashville is to:
- Equip interns with a biblical and reformed philosophy of ministry in addition to other areas of ministry (counseling, soul care, teaching/leading Bible studies, navigating youth culture, etc.)
- Connect interns relationally and vocationally with other like-minded men and women serving the youth of the Church
- Encourage interns by refreshing them in the gospel of Jesus through applicable preaching and meaningful times of worship.
