Tuesday Qs

Title: What were you made for?

Passage: Ephesians 2:1-10

Icebreaker: What is a secret talent you have?

Review: What was the definition of “sanctification” that your group came
up with yesterday?

Reflect: What from the sermon stood out to you? What was challenging, comforting, or confusing?

Sermon Questions:
1. Why did God show us mercy, when we were dead in our sin (Eph 2:4-7)? Discuss.

2. How do you usually think of yourself in relation to God? Do you think of yourself as a servant? Worker? Rule follower? Something else?

3. God made us to be loved, like a child or a treasured possession. How might this reality impact how you relate to him?

4. Where are the places in your life where it is hardest to accept God’s gift of love? These might be the places where you often feel like you have to earn love: parents, friends, school, teams, etc.

5. Sin messes with our view of ourselves. It convinces us that we are so bad that we are out of the reach of God’s love, or that we are so good that we don’t need God’s love. Is it harder for you to accept that God loves you? Or, to accept that you need God’s love?

6. What is the good news from this passage for both kinds of people?

Close in prayer for us to receive God’s love as a gift, especially in the places where we want to earn his love.
